#2 November Finish for A Lovely Year of Finishes

My second goal for November (which I announced in this post) was to layer and baste this quilt.

I know I may differ from some about what a finish is.  For me, I think a quilt has several finishes:  when the blocks are sewn together into a top; when the quilt is layered and basted; when the quilting is done; and when the final stitch of the binding is sewn.

After surgery in the middle of November I had to pace myself to get this layered and basted.  I'm pleased to have succeeded and to also have begun the hand quilting.

    1. Thanks, Missy. I have to look at interim finishes because from the time I first cut fabric until the time I sew the last stitch on the binding can be a year or two. I would feel like I rarely finished anything if I didn't see these steps as finishes, too.

Take care and thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.

  3. Quilt looks great. I agree a little pause and time to acknowledge achievement on the way to a complete finish is very necessary. It takes me many months/years to make a full size quilt so I have to break the process down into steps and accept it might stay at a stage for quite some time. Glad you are feeling well enough to tackle a large project ☺

  4. I agree with you that the layering and basting is a finish. That's always a tough step for me - it deserves its own finish! Beautiful!

    1. I suppose if I didn't let my quilt tops "rest" (for a few months, a year, a few years) before they're layered the layering and basting might be the next natural step and just a part of the progress toward a finished quilt.

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. I appreciate it.
