And I'm grateful for air conditioning even if I have to go without it for 12 hours. We later learned that they shut off electricity to some areas on purpose to avoid the whole system being shut down due to the extra draw of electricity because of the heat. It would have been nice to have some warning.
I hope you're staying cool and comfortable. I decided it was too soon to remove any of the blocks and will lay them out together when I finish the fourth group.
The sad thing about the power going out (we learned later) is that the power company purposefully shut off power to different locations in order to prevent the whole system from being overloaded and shutting down. I wouldn't have a problem with that IF they let us know in advance when and for how long we would be without power. I was grateful I didn't have something in the oven.I hope your husband's Covid symptoms weren't too bad and that he's doing better now. And really sorry about your daughter and her family. Once is too much, twice is awful. My daughter has said that she thinks probably everyone will eventually get it. In general it seems like it's milder now than when we first learned of it. I know there are fewer people in the ICU with it now than then. Whatever variant she has seems similar to what I had in December and January, though I was more ill than she has been. Covid is such a strange infection because symptoms seem to vary so much from person to person. I'm sorry your experience with it was so unpleasant.
Did you get thunderstorms? I hope so! They do usually lower the temperature, at least for a while. I would be happy with a summer that stays in about the 70s and low 80s, then cools at night to the 60s, and last about two or three weeks, a month max. I suppose somewhere like Alaska would be the place except for the short days in the winter. I hope your summer is not hot and miserable. I don't think you have high humidity there, do you?Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12136584654825212359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3572317733773180899.post-49556047961420577872022-06-30T17:10:08.942-04:002022-06-30T17:10:08.942-04:00Thank you, Lizzy. I'll probably lay out the 24 blocks I should have finished by the end of the week and see what I think with all of them together, and maybe with a possible sashing fabric.
We've had 100% humidity in the past and can't figure out how it's not raining. One of our recent weather men said that we usually think the problem is the humidity, but the dew point (the higher the worse in the summer) increases how the humidity feels. Ohio summers are usually like this.
