I've finished two pages (the second of which is a little too pink in the photo),

Ann works improvisationally, places fabric, stitches it, then adds to it. (But participants can create by whatever method they like.) I like her idea of "yes, and?" No mistakes, no pressure, just visual and needle play. I'm not second-guessing myself, not removing stitches, just choosing, cutting, and arranging fabric, then stitching, and there's lots of play involved with the choosing, cutting, and arranging.
I won't be stitching on the stitch book today but I will likely be quilting a few more fans on Everyday Patchwork. I'm nearly half finished!
I'm linking this post to Slowing Stitching Sunday at Kathy's Quilts. Thanks for hosting, Kathy.
I hope you all have a great Sunday!

This sounds like a fun project, playing with whatever and however you wish. Three pretty blocks. I'm loving that "little too pink" one.
ReplyDeleteThis has been fun, Kim. Though the goal is 15 minutes of stitching each day, it takes me longer to play and make decisions about fabric and placement, so not a speedy project.
DeleteThank you for your sweet comment about the blocks.
When I said the one block was a little too pink, I meant that the camera make it pinker than it really is. It leans just a little toward coral.
Perfect project for easy and fun stitching in short bursts...fabric books are fun little projects--enjoy hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've made a fabric book, Julierose. I've made some paper books before, but not fabric. It's been fun so far. The time-consuming part is not the stitching but choosing fabrics, shapes, placement, etc. But it's all play.
DeleteYour stitch book pages look great! They're such a fun little way to get a bit of stitching in every day.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Katie. Yes to what you wrote, and also I think they're a fun way to play with fabric and shapes, though my playing takes longer than 15 minutes. Even so, it's fun.
DeleteSuch fun collages!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nann. Yes, I was thinking collages, too, and then thinking almost like greeting cards. (Though these would never make the cut for greeting cards--they're just play.)
DeleteI'm glad you joined in. Your 3 little pages look great and it's probably really calming to just do whatever you want. . . no pressure. Every stitched fan counts, your quilt will be quilted before you know it. I would like to go downstairs and put a few stiches in my quilt but my husband has painted the stairwell and I know me, I'll loose my balance and have to touch the walls to straighten up or something so I'm just hanging out upstairs till tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Robin. I really appreciate the no pressure part. The perfectionist in me usually pushes me along, but not for the pages of this book!
DeleteI'm so sorry you were not able to get to your quilt! Ugh to the paint. Better to be safe upstairs than downstairs and sorry. Thank goodness it was just a day! (And how great your husband painted the stairwell!)
Looks like a fun project.
ReplyDeleteIt has been fun, Karrin. I like the idea of no expectations, just play for these pages.
DeleteI made a stitch book with Ann Wood in 2023 and just yesterday, decided I am going to create some stitch pages. Not sure if it will be a 100 day project but I felt like I needed to make some small pieces. I have just found Liz Kettle on YouTube and she has a stitch meditation project too. It is fun to work on these small pieces.
ReplyDeleteDid you post images of your 2023 stitch pages, Juliann? I'm finding creating and stitching these pages refreshing--no pressure, just for fun. The play part takes longer than I thought it would, though. I hope you'll post the pages you make..
