This is the quilt I stewed over because I knew the binding would cut off the points of some of the squares around the edges. It did but now that it's finished, I see that it's okay. It's just another step in my learning.
After I wash, dry, and take some decent photos I'll write another post with all the stats and what I learned in making it.

Such a pretty quilt, Nancy! And I'm glad to see it isn't really your last finish of 2015, which is how you listed it on the Whoop Whoop linky! So whoop whoop for a beautiful finish and I hope to see more finishes by you in 2015!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't finished much either this year. I love how you put these plaids together, Nancy and still have a calm design. I have a collection of plaid scraps waiting to be played with but lately my time has been all about the puppies. My time at the sewing machine and computer has been so very limited.
ReplyDeleteI think we all get way too caught up in the "finishing" and forget to enjoy the journey. I think the quilt you made is beautiful, and good for you for enjoying the process. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHi, Tahoe34. Thank you for your kind words about my quilt. I know finishing is a measure of success. Once or twice I set a goal to finish a quilt in a certain amount of time for one of the link-ups. I had to push myself so hard and devote time to it when there were other things I needed to do that I didn't enjoy it quite so much. So I just devote what time I can (among all the other things I have to do) and enjoy it along the way. Take care. Happy New Year to you, too.
DeleteLove your quilt, and I agree there's no point being so driven by the desire to finish a project that all enjoyment in the process is lost! I made a simple ninepatch plaid quilt in 2014 and really liked the way all the different patterns and colours came together.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for the projects you undertake this year.
Wow, Nancy!! This is really striking, and a huge finish. Time very well spent. :D Numbers of finishes don't tell the whole story. Some things demand more time and it shows. You must smile so huge when you see this all finished now!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lyn. When I start a quilt it seems like such a long stretch of hand work but by the time I'm finished, I'm usually thrilled.
DeleteYour quilt is gorgeous and hand quilting does take longer. I believe it is not the quantity of what you finish but the quality.
