All together now, but four more to make. Or 17, if I want a layout of 6 blocks by 8 blocks.
Appliqueing the stars is the first step. The next step will be layering and stitching circles on them. But before that I'll need to cut away the fabric behind each star. This will be the first time I've done that with pieced backgrounds. I think I may have to reinforce the edges of seams that are cut away. Wouldn't it be an awful thing to spend time stitching only to have blocks come apart?!
I ditched the last star (Star #30). The fabric didn't sew well. Even though some cottons may seem great for a quilt, it's not until I get to the hand sewing or hand quilting that I realize the fabric is a bad choice. The star was half appliqued but I knew I wouldn't look forward to hand quilting it. I unstitched it.
When I'm too tired or sleepy to quilt or do anything productive, I scroll through Pinterest. I should just go take a nap. And that's what I'm going to do right now.
I hope you're having a great weekend.
