I love the crinkles on quilts after they've been washed and dried.
I tried to photograph those crinkles but it's been really cloudy today and the flash obliterates them. Handy as I'm not with a camera I wasn't able to hold the camera still enough for a great photo, but I think this one below shows the crinkles pretty well.
So I used the first of the Aurifil Mako 50 spools I won a few weeks ago to stitch the binding. The thread is very fine and very smooth. It feels wonderful. But I had trouble with tangles. I finally knotted the end furthest from the spool and though it didn't eliminate the tangles it diminished their frequency. I'm looking forward to using the Aurifil on the machine.
This is probably my last finish of the year. It's interesting that my first finish was also a small quilt.

DeleteI can see the nice texture and love the red madder. Hint for photos....cloudy days are good for quilt taking, just not dark cloudy days...lol. Anyway, raking light is best for photos of quilting. That means the light should be coming at an angle across the quilt to highlight and show the quilting. Just a tip I was taught.

DeleteYour mini quilt is really cute. Enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes with a finish. I use Aurifil thread all the time for piecing. I really like it, but, even though they say there is no lint, there is. I mostly use Guterman thread for hand applique but I do have a few spools of Aurifil I use too. Both make the loopy knot but I normally can easily pull it out if I see it in time. Blessings, Gretchen

DeleteCongrats on your sweet little finish. The hand quilting and resulting crinkles are lovely . I always use use Thread Heaven when hand stitching with Aurifil.
