If the opportunity arises to do some handwork today these flowers will get some stitches.
I'm stitching Cheri Payne's Baskets of Plenty #5.
Did I ever mention how much I love and look forward to Sunday, the Sabbath? I love going to church where I worship, renew covenants, learn more about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and interact with other like-minded people. I also love laying aside the usual work and play of the week: cleaning, shopping, laundry, eating at restaurants, and most other daily activities, including cutting and sewing quilts. It is a joy to rest, to read, to work on family history, to write letters, to remember my Savior, and (maybe) to slow stitch when listening to uplifting talks or music. I think of Sundays as a time to refuel both my body and spirit, to rest and rejuvenate. I hope you have a restful day today.
I'm linking this post to Slow Sunday Stitching at Kathy's Quilts. Thanks for hosting, Kathy.

What you said about the Sabbath really speaks to my heart. Thank you for saying it so well. I really like the plaid you've used for this basket.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susan.
DeleteI appreciate your testimony and thank you for using your blog for more than just stitching. I, too, put my quilting aside on Sunday. I was hand quilting on my first Civil War quilt about 2002. My husband was out of town and I only had an 11 yr old son to take care of. One Sunday I decided to quilt for a few hours since I had no other demands. I worked hard and was pleased to see my progress. BUT, the rest of the week my hands ached terrible because they hadn't had a chance to rest. It was a testimony to me that every part of my body needs a day of rest.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your experience and sweet testimony, Robin. Isn't it amazing how Heavenly Father teaches us?!
DeleteNice stitching--and beautiful words.
ReplyDeleteI, too, don't quilt on Sunday, unless I choose to do some hand work while DH catches the late news before he goes to bed (the only TV of the day, besides the Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcast).
I love the time at church, and the afternoon preparing dinner with sacred music playing in the background. About a dozen family members gather for dinner in the early evening and we spend the time enjoying each other's company. It is a day of renewal, physically and spiritually.
Thank you, Janet. It is wonderful to have that rest, renewal, and interaction with loved ones on Sundays.
DeleteHope you had a wonderful day of relaxing stitching!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathy. It was a restful and peaceful day.
DeleteThanks for hosting Slow Sunday Stitching every week. I don't always join but I appreciate knowing I can and seeing what others are working on.
I hope that you enjoyed your stitching...I often stitch while listening to this or that spiritual teacher online on youtube : )
ReplyDeleteHi, Deb. It was just a little stitching but it was a pleasant and joyful day.
