These Buckeye Beauty blocks make for a busy quilt, don't you think? Maybe too busy?
These are 6" blocks. I think a 6 x 7 layout with 42 blocks and a border would be a good size for a baby quilt.

They don't seem to busy to me. Looks like a great start to a quilt for a boy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your thoughts, Angela. I appreciate it.
DeleteIf you find them too busy, what about some sort of chain-type separator block in between?
ReplyDeleteThat's an idea to try, Joyful. Someone else suggested sashing. I can try both.
DeleteI don't think they look too busy. I like the contrast of the light-on-dark and the dark-on-light blocks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your thoughts, Julie. These blocks began as a "study" in value. I think I'm succeeding since you specifically mentioned lights and darks. Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.
DeleteI don't think they look too busy. In fact, I think it will be a charming little quilt!
ReplyDeleteThank you for that great comment, Sue. I appreciate it.
DeleteBusy isn't necessarily bad. I think they look quite pleasing together.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Katie. I do often like busy quilts. Maybe I'm just too close to this one to appreciate it yet. Thanks for your kind comment about the blocks.
DeleteNot too busy for me either! I like how they look together.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cathy.
DeleteJust an honest-to-goodness scrap quilt. That kind of busy is good in my book! : )
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, Janet. I've laid the blocks out again in a different arrangement -- green with all the colors. I'll play some more and figure it out soon.
