Winter Berries, Wanderer, Other Snapshots

The day after Christmas was balmy so we went to Inniswood Gardens Metro Park to explore.  It is a beautiful park.  I love all the tans, greys, blacks, and browns in winter landscapes.  Such variety -- and beauty, too.

Fascinated with the birds on the Christmas tree.

That is just a bit of my Christmas week.

I hope you're happy and healthy.  (I'm a under the weather but trying to get healthy again!)

    1. Hi, Karin.  It's been a very long time since I've felt like a spring chicken but I'll be pleased to be done with this cold and cough!  Thank you for your prayers and for your kind words about my photographs.

  4. There is so much beauty in nature in the winter. The difference for me is that I have to hold still and look for it. It doesn't shout out to me like a summer rose garden or fall zinnia planting. It is quiet and soothing and waiting to be noticed. You're right about the blue on that woman statue. It has "Nancy" written all over it. It's a color Kim Diehl uses in her quilts a lot. I'm not sure what I would call it - do you have a name for that shade? Thanks for sharing.

    1. Hi, Robin.  You're so right about the winter colors.  Seeing them in person is best.  I think it's hard to photograph winter colors.  From a distance a leafless hedge or bush looks beautiful but when I get closer, the color almost dissipates.  The branches aren't close enough to take good photos of the colors.

I don't know what color that blue is called.  This link (http://store.thequiltshow.com/Afternoon-Delight-Quilt-Kit-p/theq-kit-adbb.htm) has a quilt and they call the border Cadet Blue.  But I think I've heard it called Prussian Blue and perhaps another name or two.  I search out that blue whenever I'm at a fabric shop or looking at shirts at a thrift store.
      Thanks for visiting.

    1. Thank you, Jennie.  I love to see the red berries in winter, too, especially when I see them against snow (which we seem to be getting less and less of with each passing year!)

    1. Thank you, Janet.  It really is a lovely garden/park, beautifully laid out and landscaped.  Most of the Metro Parks are wild but this one is more refined.
Thanks, I am feeling better.  Just a lingering cough.
