Views When Out and About

Tiny Leaves.
I am always fascinated to see tiny leaves.  During the summer I search for them on the trees and can't find them, but come fall, there they are on the ground.  The little green maple, lower left, is 1" long from top to bottom of the green part.  The biggest, upper right, is 1 3/4" across.  Adorable!

A Funny Sign.
Does that sign look like it spells "FAT" to you?  That's what it looks like to me, but it's probably supposed to be "EAT."

Organized Color.
Items arranged by color always catch my eye.  It makes me smile that someone at our local thrift store took the time to place these so carefully.

Gourds.
These are some of the strangest gourds I've ever seen, and the wartiest.

Another Sign.
Being kind is always, always a good idea.

I'm thrilled that fall is here and giving us some cooler days.  I'm not quite so excited about the downright cold nights so early in the season, though.  Last night I slept under two quilts and a wool blanket and I was still cold.  If I don't keep my eyes open and pay attention, winter will be here before I know it!

I hope you've had a good week.
-Nancy.

  1. It’s much cooler here earlier, as well. Those gourds are really odd!!

    1. Not complaining about the cool weather, Jennie, just surprised by it.  We often have fairly hot weather into October.  I'm wondering what our winter will be like.

  2. It was fun to see your perspective on things through the camera lens.
Yes, my first impression of that sign was that it said "FAT".
I love when things are arranged by color, too.
    Crazy looking gourds!
Yes, Kindness is definitely something we should be choosing.

  3. Those were great pictures! Yes, very weird gourds. I sleep under 4 quilts once it gets cold, but I also found that just one of those polyester fleece blankets that looks like sheep's wool is REALLY warm!

    1. Thank you, Susan. My daughter likes the fleece blankets, too, but I can't seem to make myself like synthetic fibers.

  4. I saw them this morning, the little leaves. I wasn't sure what you were talking about because I've never noticed it. This morning I was out walking with a friend and as we passed under a tree there were all these little leaves on the ground. I looked up into the tree and it was all much larger leaves. "This is a what Nancy is talking about," I thought.
I'm going to have my eyes open and look for more now - thanks for bringing this to my attention.

    1. You're welcome, Robin. Isn't it strange that we've lived so many years and haven't noticed those tiny leaves before? I remember seeing them last year but that's the first time. It's an amazing earth, isn't it? Always something new to notice.

  5. I loved this post! Now I too will look for tiny leaves. I think the weird gourds are called Winged Gourds. How fun it would be to grow some.

    1. I wonder if your tiny leaves will be green, yellow, or some other autumn color, Lizzy. It would be fun to grow some of those gourds. I only wish gourds kept their colors when dried!
