One Monthly Goal June Finish

It's not pretty yet because I haven't cut or bound the edges, but it's finished.  Hooray!  This was my One Monthly Goal (OMG) for June

I can hardly wait to cut binding, measure and sew it to the edges, then hand stitch it in place.  Slow me, this is perhaps my second finish of the year!

  2. Quilting is NOT a race ... slow and steady is just fine, and in this case, it's perfect! I love it!

    1. Thank goodness there's no race involved, Kathy, just self-imposed deadlines.

I can hardly wait to finish this and take a photo of the whole thing. Right now I'm trying to choose binding color. It will be scrappy, but I'm not sure about lights/creams, reds, or blues. When an edge has just two colors, I have trouble deciding.

Thanks for your kind comments. I appreciate them.

    1. Well, the center may be pretty, but the edge, without its binding, isn't very fun to look at. Thanks for your compliment, Janet. I appreciate it.

    1. Thank you, Heidi. I can hardly wait to get this finished, too. I have to choose a binding color, cut it, and then I can stitch it on. I keep going back and forth between a red binding or a cream/tan binding (like the colors in the blocks). Hmmm.

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. I appreciate it.

  5. Trying to figure that photo out. Do you have the four corners folded to the middle? I love this quilt. It's such a great design with that star center in each block. I love that you mixed prints and plaids, too. Kudos to you for doing so much this month. Congratulations on meeting your goal! dezertsuz at gmail

    1. Yes, I folded the corners together (almost to the center). The idea was to "prove" that I'd finished the quilting all the way to the edges and corners.

Thanks for your kind words about the quilt. I love mixing prints, plaids, and plains. I don't suppose it works to the eyes of most viewers but I like the mix. The block pattern evolved, element by element, with the red "wings" first, then the sashing, and then I decided white stars would be a good idea. I think it's turned out well but I am looking forward to finishing it so I can photograph the whole thing. But I have to choose a binding color first -- reds, tans/creams....

The binding will probably be my one monthly goal for July. You wouldn't think it would take a month to finish a binding but with other activities going on, it could be one of those things I set aside unless I focus.

Thanks for visiting and leaving such kind comments about the quilt, Susan. I appreciate them.
